Description

The War Memorial is made of Portland Stone and features a reduced Cenotaph style with a two-stage plinth and a two-stepped concrete base. It is located in the center of a small paved area, with flagpoles positioned to the east and west. The south face of the memorial displays a wreath with the inscription ‘PRO PATRIA’ above, and below it reads ‘IN HONOURED MEMORY OF THOSE FROM YSTRAD MYNACH AND HENGOED WHO MADE THE SUPREME SACRIFICE IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918 YN ANGHOF NI CHANT FOD’. An additional inscription on the base states ‘TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THOSE WHO FELL IN THE WAR 1939-45’. The names of the fallen are listed on the east and west faces.
