Description

Hengoed Viaduct is a high 16-arch viaduct that is slightly curved in plan. It is constructed of rock-faced, snecked Pennant sandstone. The viaduct features high round arches supported by imposts with large voussoirs, and the soffits are partly made of red brick. The piers are narrow and slightly splayed. There is a string course and shallow parapets with coping stones, some of which are upright. The ends of the viaduct have square piers, and there is a smaller skewed east arch flanked by these piers.
