Description

The No. 2 Headframe at Penallta Colliery is a significant structure, being one of the two original headframes for the colliery. It is made of rolled steel and features a four-legged tower with two shear legs on the winder side, supported by a series of cross braces. The headframe includes two sheaves and has a railed access platform around them, which is supported by curving braces. Additionally, there has been a later insertion of metal and concrete structures within and beside the frame that contain rooms.
