Description
Penallta Colliery Old Stores is a single-storey building that served as a store for goods, equipment, and oil. It was constructed in the same style as the other original buildings of the colliery, using Pennant Sandstone with red brick dressings. The design features pilasters that divide the bays, end piers, stepped parapets, a plinth, and window and door surrounds that include keystones. The building has a double-pitch roof supported by steel trusses, which previously had a raised ridge ventilator, with slate above and glass below. It measures six bays long and three bays wide on a north-south axis. The windows have segmental-arched heads and some still retain metal multi-pane frames. There are arched and square-headed doorways, along with parts of wrought iron cantilevered canopies on the east and north sides for loading materials in and out of the stores.
