Description
The Iron Bridge in the grounds of Woodfield Park is a Grade II listed structure dating from 1829. It consists of five parallel one-piece cast iron beams that are tied together with straps. The outer beams feature an embossed raised frieze with keystones that display the date "1829" and are pierced with four openings; one end of each outer beam is marked "Cardiff" and the other "Foundry". The bridge is supported by dry stone abutments. Although one of the wrought iron handrails is currently not in place, the handrails are intact, and four posts support a handrail with scrolled ends. The bridge measures approximately 3 metres in width and 5.5 metres in length.
