Description
The St Mary Street War Memorial is a stone obelisk featuring a wheeled cross on a column, set on a pedimented plinth and base with a four-stepped design. The southwest face of the plinth bears a dedication that reads: ‘THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918. IN HONOURED MEMORY OF THOSE WHO FELL AND THOSE WHO SERVED. AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN AND IN THE MORNING, WE WILL REMEMBER THEM. AR FACHLUD HAUL AC YN Y BORE NI A'U COFIWN HWYNT. TO THOSE FROM THIS DISTRICT WHO FOUGHT IN THE CAUSE OF FREEDOM AND MADE THE SUPREME SACRIFICE 1939-45’.
