Description
The War Memorial is a cenotaph type structure made of pale ashlar with cast copper alloy inscription panels. It stands on three steps and features a tall pier with a tiered plinth at the front that lists the names of those who died in the Second World War; this plaque was donated by the Nelson Branch of the British Legion. The main shaft of the memorial displays the names of those who lost their lives in the Great War, topped with a carved wreath, and there is another wreath at the rear. The side pilasters are adorned with scrolls and are capped with a hipped coping stone. The memorial is situated within a flagged railed enclosure.
