Description
The War Memorial is a cenotaph made of Portland stone, featuring metal inscription plaques. It is situated within a small square enclosure formed by chains linking low stone obelisks on a stone base. The memorial has a tiered base that includes a plaque and a carved relief inscription honoring the dead of the Second World War. The main shaft displays a bronze plaque in shallow relief, which depicts soldiers standing by graves, positioned above the main inscription plaque and a carved relief inscription commemorating the dead of the Great War. On the narrower side panels, there are relief-carved wreathed swords depicted in a mourning position. The memorial is topped with a heavily moulded entablature and a wreath.
