Memorial Clock

The Memorial Clock is a town clock and war memorial made of cream limestone with metal fittings. It features a tower topped with a domed roof and is flanked by detached fluted corner columns beside the panels. Each of the four clock faces displays Roman numerals, is surrounded by a wreath, and is set at the top of a panel with raised moulded borders. The clock stands on a rusticated plinth with two steps. The capitals of the columns are adorned with small paterae, and the entablature above includes a pierced motif in the frieze and billet moulding in the cornice. The main incised inscription faces the town, with additional metal plates listing the names of those who died in the Second World War. At the top of the clock is a weathervane, and metal torches at the corners, two of which still have their flame-shaped glass shades. There is a doorway at the rear that provides access to the clock.
