Description
Troedrhiwtrwyn Farm is a 2-storey house located on a hillside with battered rubble stone walls and a synthetic-slate roof that has replaced the original stone tiles. The house features 17th century rendered stacks to the right of center, which includes the original hall stack, and another stack at the right end for an added unit, along with a 19th century stack to the left. A vertical joint to the right of center distinguishes the earlier house on the left from the later addition on the right.
The front of the house has three windows with sash windows in half dormers on the upper storey. The doorway to the right of center has a stone segmental head and a replaced stable door beneath a 19th century stone-bracketed canopy. To the left of the doorway, the hall window features a wooden lintel and brick jambs. Further to the left and within the unit on the right are windows with segmental stone heads. The left gable end is roughcast and includes an added lean-to that is rendered and painted cream, featuring a boarded door facing the front, a 2-light casement in the side wall, and a reduced stone stack towards the rear.
At the rear, the house has outshut stair projections to the left of center and at the left end, both with small stair lights. Each unit also has small rear windows on the lower storey. The roughcast right gable end has a doorway on the left side and a flat-roofed link to a late 19th century stable, which has been incorporated into the house.
The original plan form of the house is well preserved. The original section features beams with stepped stops, a flagstone floor, a fireplace with a wooden lintel, and a stone winding stair to the left of the fireplace. The dividing wall between the hall and inner room has been partly removed. The added unit also retains beams with stepped stops, a fireplace with a wooden lintel, and a stone winding stair to its left. This unit has a single collar beam truss, with the collar set at an unusually low level.
