Description
Trehafod Memorial Hall and Institute is a free-standing Art Deco style building dating from the early 20th century. It is two storeys high, featuring a façade made of brick and reconstituted stone, topped with a slate roof. The metal-framed windows have thin vertical panes and diamond panes in the centre. The front of the building consists of three bays, with pilasters marking the central bay. This central bay features a wide recessed entrance supported by Tuscan columns in antis, which hold up a plain entablature with a relief inscription, along with half-lit doors and an overlight. The upper storey has a double-height design with triple windows, where the upper level features flat brick arches. The outer bays are lower and set back from the central bay, adorned with zigzag mouldings on the parapet that extend into the return walls for a single bay, and rusticated brick angle pilasters.
The pitched roof is set back behind the parapet, rising to a flat centre that includes two ventilators. The sides of the building are pebble-dashed with scattered windows. To the right side, there is an attached house that is set back, featuring a lower gabled projection on the left side. The rear of the building is faced in brick.
Inside, the hall has a simple layout with small rooms on the lower storey and a staircase on the right side of the entrance vestibule that leads up to the hall, which includes a stage on the upper storey.
