Description
The former Lewis Merthyr Colliery chimney is a tall structure made of yellow brick, approximately 50 meters high, with a circular shape that tapers as it rises. It stands on a square plinth made of rockfaced sandstone, which features inset panels, including a circular vent on the south side. At the top of the chimney, there are two corbelled rings of brick, which have been slightly reduced in height from their original form when a metal casing extended above the brickwork. The chimney is reinforced with iron bands at the top and bottom, as well as in the middle on the north side, where the letters "LM" and the date "1892" are displayed in relief brickwork.
