Description
Upper Abercanaid House is a house featuring painted stucco and a slate hipped roof, with stuccoed stacks on either side, although the left stack has been removed since 1975. The house has deep eaves with paired brackets on the front elevation, while the sides are plain.
It is two stories high with a three-window front, showcasing 16-pane horned sash windows. The center door is flanked by these windows, but the sashes in the left bay, known as Llys Canaid, have been replaced with 20th-century windows. The windows have thin raised surrounds with shoulders and keystones. The arched doorway features a traceried fanlight beneath a shallow-gabled timber hood supported by ornate timber brackets. The door itself is a six-panel design, with four glazed panels and the bottom two panels shaped. The house also has raised quoins and a band at the first floor.
On the left side, Llys Canaid has no windows and includes a large 20th-century flat-roofed extension. The right side has two arched windows on the ground floor with 20th-century glazing, along with one 20th-century window on the first floor, positioned to the right of center. The rear of the house has three 20th-century upper windows and two ground floor windows, with a lean-to structure on the left.
The property has not been inspected.
