Description
The gatepiers at the driveway entrance to Cyfarthfa Castle are notable features from the 19th century. They consist of two impressive sections of ironwork railings, flanked by ironwork gate piers. The round gatepiers are topped with large urn finials and have hinges, along with a cluster of smaller urn-topped uprights attached. There is a matching pair of ironwork gates. The spear railings extend down in seven bays on both the left and right, divided by square groups of urn-finial uprights, and include spear dog-bars. At the outer ends, the railings connect to square, castellated stone turrets, with boundary walls extending beyond. The gates were restored in the spring of 1987.
