Description
172-173 Broadway, Treforest, are two 2-storey houses built of rubble stone, originally featuring slate roofs and stone ridge stacks. The windows and doors have all been replaced, mostly within their original openings.
No 172 was originally single-fronted, while No 173 was double-fronted and appears to be of a later date, as indicated by a slight heightening of the roof line. Both original doorways have been blocked and converted into windows. The left-hand window of the original No 173 has been changed into a doorway, which is now inside an added porch with a hipped roof. The lower storey openings still have stone segmental heads, while the upper left has a lintel below the eaves, and the upper centre and right windows are also below segmental heads. The roof has been replaced with synthetic slates, and a former stack between the two houses has been rebuilt in brick.
