Description
The War Memorial is an obelisk made of granite, featuring both rock-faced and finely dressed polished sections. It stands on a square concrete base with a two-stage battered plinth and base. Each of the four sides has a combination of engraved and metal inscriptions in Welsh and English, honoring the heroes of Blaenrhondda from 1914 to 1918. The memorial is topped with a polished cornice and the obelisk shaft.
Surrounding the memorial is an enclosure made up of four lengths of metal railings and gates. These railings consist of closely spaced uprights with decorative supports, as well as corner and gateposts topped with orb finials.
