Description
The Railway Viaduct over the River Taff is a five-arch structure built from coursed rock-faced stone. It is positioned at an angle to the river, and the arches are skewed. The western arch crosses a riverside path, while the other arches span the river itself. The viaduct features wide segmental arches made of voussoirs and tall projecting keystones that have margin drafting. The soffits of the arches are finished in white brick. On the northern side, there are rounded cutwaters topped with domed caps. A moulded stone string course with margin drafting runs along the structure, and the parapets are capped with saddleback coping in a similar style. The piers are capped at the abutments.
