Description

No. 1 White House is a rendered building, likely constructed from local rubblestone, topped with a Welsh slate gabled roof. It is a two-storey structure with a double depth plan and some single-storey extensions. Each house features a front with three bays, including paired central doorways and a porch supported by concrete columns, with a wrought iron railing above. The windows are sash style, with 6 over 6 panes and horns. Each house has two ridge stacks.

Historical photographs from around 1920 show that this building was originally one house with an addition. A 1948 photograph indicates that the building had a flat roof, likely due to bomb damage from a land-mine that fell in the churchyard behind it in January 1941. After World War II, the building was reconfigured and divided into two equal parts, with the central doors and porches added. Previously, there had been a three-bay central entrance on the left and a two-bay addition on the right. The left side once featured dormers, while the right side had single sash windows, indicating that the current appearance is only a rough approximation of its pre-war state.

This description pertains to the right-hand house of the pair. It has two paired sashes towards the south end and a single sash above the central doorway; the paired sashes are a post-World War II alteration. The interior was not inspected during the resurvey.
