Description
No. 2 White House is a rendered building, likely constructed from local rubblestone, with a Welsh slate gabled roof. It is a two-storey structure with a double depth plan and some single-storey extensions. The front of the house features three bays, with paired central doorways leading to a porch supported by concrete columns and adorned with wrought iron railings above. The windows are sash style, with 6 over 6 panes and horns. Each house has two ridge stacks.
Historical photographs from around 1920 indicate that this building was originally a single house with an addition. A 1948 photograph shows the building with a flat roof, likely due to bomb damage from a land-mine that fell in the churchyard behind in January 1941. After World War II, the building was reconfigured and divided into two equal parts, with the central doors and porches added. Previously, there was a three-bay central entrance on the left and a two-bay addition on the right. The left section once featured dormers, while the right had single sash windows, indicating that the current appearance is only a rough approximation of its pre-war design.
The left-hand house of the pair has a lattice window with a stone surround, dating from around 1920, on the left gable facing the lychgate. The interior was not inspected during the resurvey.
