Description

The Railway Bridge over the Dock Feeder is a Grade II listed structure built on a skew. It features coursed rock-faced rubble masonry with dressed coping and a stepped stringcourse above the broad elliptical arch, which is formed by long thin voussoirs. On each side of the bridge, there are ramped and tapered pilaster buttresses and ramped abutments. The southwest side has a sweeping curve that ends in a low pier with coping. The northern end displays a similar masonry treatment. The underside of the bridge is constructed with yellow brick at the southern end and red brick at the northern end. There are towpaths along both banks of the feeder, which are closed at the southern end by iron gates topped with finials.
