Description
The Golden Cross Public House is a two-storey building dating from the 20th century. Its southeast front features six bays, with the left bay being broader, and a splayed corner bay to the right, along with two additional bays on the sides. The structure is constructed of red brick, accented with yellow brick pilasters and aprons. Each bay on the first floor has two windows with curved heads, all topped by a single cornice and aprons, with a parapet above.
On the ground floor, there is an elaborate tiled pub front showcasing Venetian windows. The tiling is green and gold, featuring raised lettering on the fascias, with tiled panelling on the pilasters and stall risers. Inside, the saloon bar at the west end has walls lined with polychrome tiles and a tiled floral frieze in relief. The bar itself has a hardwood top and is covered externally with tiles displaying a grotesque pattern in relief. The doors and screens feature engraved glass. The walls of the entrance lobby include a larger one from Cardiff Castle, dated 1903, and a smaller one from Cardiff Town Hall, both created by the firm of Craven, Dunhill and Co, Salop.
