Description

Marine House comprises two former houses facing north, each of three storeys and one-window bay. The buildings date to the 18th century and have slate roofs and brick chimneys. The exterior is stuccoed, with the ground floor rusticated and the upper floors featuring scribing intended to imitate ashlar. A shallow plinth is present, along with a cornice and parapet, and additional cornices at the first and second floor levels. The second-floor windows are broad tripartite designs. First-floor windows are of a Venetian style, featuring tripartite openings framed by Doric pilasters and a small shell motif within a tympanum above. The former end house is distinguished by two pilasters in rusticated stucco. A doorway to Marine House has large, Egyptian-style engaged quarter columns and an entablature above, flanked by tripartite sash windows. A former segmental-headed doorway, now a window and constructed with stucco voussoirs, is located at the right end.

The rear elevation has six bays of standard tall windows with large pane glazing on the second and first floors. The ground floor contains five windows and a doorway topped with a square fanlight, and these do not align with the windows above.
