Description
The building comprises a pair of two-bay, three-storey houses, now combined into a single property, dating to the 18th century. The lower storey is constructed of ashlar stone, while the upper levels are faced with scribed stucco. The roof is slate, punctuated by a central stone stack rising above a deeply moulded dentilled cornice. A deep moulded cornice is present on the right-hand side (No 23), while a thinner cornice characterizes the left-hand side (No 22). Doorways are recessed in the left-hand bays, each sheltered by a deep hood supported by scrolled brackets. The left-hand doorway (No 22) has replacement double-panelled doors, whereas the right-hand doorway (No 23) has been converted into a window. Broad windows in the right-hand bays of each floor are framed by rusticated segmental arches and feature plate glass. Windows above the ground floor are set within architraves. The middle-storey windows are horned sash windows with six panes over one, while the upper-storey windows are horned sashes with three panes over two. Two pedimented roof dormers incorporate broad two-pane sash windows. The forecourt is enclosed by iron railings fixed to low, coped stone walls, with square, hollow piers marking the steps opposite the original doorways. The interior has been modernized.
