Description
Kilsby and Williams is a 19th-century building constructed from Portland stone ashlar, featuring a balustraded parapet, cornice, and entablature. The cornice of Crichton House extends over to the right. The building has horned 12-pane sash windows on the first and second floors, and three-light metal-frame windows on the ground floor, with architraves around the first-floor windows. The ground floor is channelled and has a modillion cornice along with a modern applied fascia. The windows are topped with deep apron panels leading to the entablature, and there are high sills above pierced panels and square ventilator panels at the base. The entrance features panelled double doors that lead up steps.
Inside, the ground floor contains a former banking hall adorned with egg and dart cornices and a floor made of white marble tiles. The basement includes a strongroom with a safe door made by Chatwood of Bolton. The upper floors have simple cornices and panelled doors leading to offices, with some featuring cast-iron fireplaces.
