Description
7 Mount Stuart Square is a three-storey building of the 19th century, forming part of a wider terrace. The building has a slate roof and brick chimneys. The exterior is stuccoed, with some raised lines to imitate ashlar masonry, and a rusticated finish to the ground floor which stands on a shallow plinth. A cornice runs along the top of the building, above a parapet. The windows on the second floor are broad and divided into three sections. The first floor windows are of a Venetian style, also with tripartite openings, articulated by Doric pilasters, with a shell motif in a small triangular area above. A cornice is positioned above the rusticated ground floor. The original ground floor of number 6 remains largely unchanged and features a segmental-headed doorway with stucco edging and a three-light window to the right. The ground floor of number 7 has a modern two-light window and, to the right, a wide passageway created in 1889 which leads through to West Bute Street. A modern entrance doorway to number 7 is situated immediately to the left within this passageway.
