Description

The garage at White Lodge is designed in an Arts and Crafts style, similar to the main house, and includes a forecourt wall and gates. It features roughcast walls and a slate roof with swept boarded eaves, hipped on the west side. On the east side, facing the driveway, there is a gable with a tiled apex and a two-light casement window. The south side has two full-height openings that have been inserted. The north wall, which faces the road, has a gable to the left of center that incorporates a window from a former loading door above two ground-floor windows, and a tall chimney stack on the right side. This elevation is built over a rock-faced red sandstone boundary wall that ramps up to the gate piers next to the garage. The double wooden gates are well-detailed, featuring a sinuous top rail, trellised wedges above boarded panels, and original iron strap hinges.
