Description
Circa 1875. Single storey with attic, picturesque gabled lodge with attached outbuilding (former gig house and stable) converted to garage. Stugged ashlar with long and short quoins, tabbed margins and moulded consoles. Bracketed cills to ground floor windows.
W (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: gabled. Finialled pitch-roofed rustic porch at centre with blank moulded tablet above, pointed arch window in blocked opening, decorative bargeboarding, rusticated corner posts and later timber door on return to right; small blocked opening to left and pointed arch window on chamfered corner to outer left.
N ELEVATION: window to left of centre by re-entrant angle formed with projecting gable to outer left, gable with window at centre ground and louvred window above in gablehead.
S ELEVATION: slightly advanced partly blocked opening (altered door?) lrft of centre, window in bay to right with wide shoulder-arched opening (recessed porch) leading to timber door, below small gable with window in gablehead to outer right Adjacent converted gig house projecting at right angles beyond. Window in bay to outer left: 2 slated dormer windows with flat-roofed canopy flanking further small canopied dormer window, all to left of gablehead.
Cast-iron Y-astragalled glazing pattern to pointed-arch windows, 4-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case windows elsewhere except gablehead window to S with 4-pane top-opening window. Graded grey slates. Coped ashlar stacks with clay cans, plain bargeboarding with kingposts and exposed rafters.
OUTBUILDINGS: rectangular-plan gabled outbuilding (converted gig house and stable) adjoining E elevation of lodge with part-glazed timber garage door abutting at SE and wide segmental-arched opening with 2-leaf timber doors linking with flat-coped wall and further small flat-roofed outbuilding to S. Kingposts and bargeboarding with timber louvred, pyramidal-roofed air vent on ridge. N elevation roofline abutting higher ground.
CONSERVATORY: rectangular-plan, gabled, pitch-roofed finialled conservatory, harled base with ashlar quoins and centre door with pointed-arch lights. Lean-to section to right.
