Description
The Big Windsor is a three-storey stuccoed building located on a corner site. The north front features four bays, a parapet, a modillion cornice, and a channelled blocking course. The second-floor windows have stucco architraves and hornless sashes. The first-floor windows include two hornless and two horned sashes, with cornices above their architraves. The ground floor has a channelled finish, with some pebbledash, and features windows set in six round-headed arches that have stucco archivolts and keystones. These arches are highlighted by Doric pilasters, and the spandrels are decorated with moulded vine leaves and grapes.
The east front has five bays with a central bay that projects, topped with a stepped parapet that includes Grecian detailing. The flanking bays mirror the north front, with all second-floor sashes being hornless and all first-floor sashes horned. The central bay contains a tripartite sash window on the second floor, supported by consoles above. The first-floor tripartite window has a balcony, pilasters, and an entablature adorned with medallions, with lamps on brackets flanking the balcony. A shallow Greek Doric portico with a fanlight is positioned above the entrance. The ground floor windows are large pane sashes.
To the south, there is an asymmetrical three-bay elevation that follows the design of the north front, but it lacks the arched ground floor. The west elevation has been altered with a modern full-height brick extension. Additionally, to the south, there is a length of iron railings on a low wall made of Radyr Stone.
