Description

The L-shaped farmyard range at Pen-hefyd Farm consists of two parts, with the north/south section adjoining the barn likely constructed first. This section is made of rubble with red brick voussoirs framing the square-headed doorways at each end and five distinctive semicircular openings in between. The east/west part was originally open-fronted, featuring piers made of similar hammer-dressed masonry as the cowhouse, but the front has since been infilled with yellow brick. The rear wall, also of rubble, has been raised to match the eaves level of the cowhouse. Both sections of the building have roofs made of Welsh slate, supported by mechanically sawn king-post trusses.
