Description
The former Bethlehem Baptist Church, also known as Ty Capel, is a simple rectangular building that dates back to its original construction. The building features a side wall facade that extends to the right and is made of painted and rendered stone. The front is deeply horizontally channelled with a raised band at the corners, while the sides are roughcast. It has a shallow pitched Welsh slate roof with a terracotta ridge and a low end stack on the left side.
There are four round-headed windows: a long pair in the center and shorter ones on the sides above the gallery. All windows are multipane sashes with intersecting tracery and raised margins. Each side of the building has round-headed doorways with raised margins, which have been fitted with replaced doors that include fanlights. The Sunday school extension features replaced rectangular windows and doors but retains its raised surrounds.
The church is bordered at the front by a rubble wall topped with ashlar saddleback coping. It has original end piers with pyramidal caps, and there are iron railings with fleur de lys finials on the stanchions, along with scrolls and spears on the gates.
The building has been converted to residential use.
