Former SE Tower at Ewenny Priory (house)

The Former South East Tower at Ewenny Priory is a rectangular tower that is now roofless and surrounded by a raised garden. The original ground level is still visible, along with the adjoining footings of the original south precinct wall and the battered base of the tower. The wide south front of the tower, which was once embattled, features arrow loops and a string course below. There is a single segmental pointed arched opening beneath the string course, which has a wide ledge likely related to its conversion into a dovecote. Similar openings are found on the west and east sides.

On the north side, there is a narrow pointed arched entrance with two chamfered orders, leading down from the garden.

Inside, the tower contains a complete set of stone nesting boxes that reach up to the battlement level, which is corbelled to the east and west. There are two protruding stone ledges for perching. The nesting boxes were created by extending large flat stones from the rear wall and supporting them with stone blocks at alternating points on each storey, with rubble walls forming the nesting holes. The interior has a curved shape across the angles, creating an almost oval space. The entry has a stone floor, while the interior is now earth. The walls are capped with stone at the top.
