Ewenny Priory Barn

Ewenny Priory Barn is a 17th-century building constructed of rubble that was previously lime rendered, featuring ashlar dressings and a Welsh slate roof. It is a long rectangular structure with a rear outshut, located next to the northern gatehouse on the left (west) and the entrance to Ewenny Priory Stable Court on the east. The northern side faces a lane and is characterized by a long cat-slide roof that steps at the junction between the main eaves and the outshut. This side includes three boarded doors, with the double door positioned centrally to the left, and several boarded window openings fitted with strap hinges.

The eastern side, which faces the entrance to Ewenny Priory (house), displays a raised roof line to accommodate the outshut. It features cambered arched openings with finely jointed ashlar surrounds, all boarded, including central double doors, flanking windows, a pitching door above, and double doors leading to the outshut. The former main frontage on the southern side has a segmental arched doorway with a corrugated iron hood, a lightly chamfered surround, and double boarded doors with strap hinges. There is also a brick stack at eaves level and various other openings, including a wide first-floor doorway on the left, which is battered, particularly on the left side.

The western side, adjoining the gatehouse and precinct wall, is similarly battered and features putlogs and corbels at first-floor level, one of which appears to be medieval and has a weathered face. Inside, the barn is divided both vertically and horizontally, with roof trusses that include tie beams and angled struts.
