Description
The Sarah Elizabeth Jones Memorial Cross is a tall Celtic Revival cross made of red sandstone, located in the churchyard of the Church of St Mary. It features a rectangular chamfered block that supports a tapering shaft, which has panelled non-Celtic decoration on the front and inscriptions on the rear. At the top of the shaft is a wheel-head cross in a Celtic style. The memorial is dedicated to Sarah Elizabeth Jones, the wife of Oliver Jones from Fonmon Castle, who passed away in 1869. There is also an inscription for Oliver Jones, who died in 1886 and was responsible for erecting the monument.
