Description

Cliff Farmhouse is a two-storey building with a central cell and a two-unit direct entry plan. The exterior features colourwashed elevations and a thatched roof adorned with a decorative ridge. There are two gable end stacks. On the ground floor, there are three modern casement windows placed randomly in the original openings, while the first floor has one two-light casement window beneath an eyebrow.

At the northern end, there is a one-and-a-half storey granary range with a slated roof and limestone rubble elevations. This section includes a modern five-light timber window on the ground floor and a flight of stone steps leading up to the granary door, which now has a modern leaded window. The gable end stack here is made of brick and topped with concrete roof tiles.

To the southern end of the central cell, there is an early 19th-century two-storey range set at right angles. The west gable is slate hung and features a rubble stack. The symmetrical main front facing south is made of exposed rubble and has three 16-pane sash windows with horns on the first floor and two on the ground floor, flanking a central four-panelled door topped with a semi-circular fanlight.

The central hall is accessed from the east elevation and contains an open fire with a timber bressumer and a bake oven on the west jamb, as well as a cross-corner stone stair located to the east of the fire. The hall features three exposed beams with medium chamfers and ogee stops. The second bay on the southern side has an open fire with an oven on the southern jamb and a gable entry stone stair on the southern side. The 19th-century wing at the southern end opens into the central hallway, which has flanking rooms on the east and west sides.
