Description
The gateway at the former entrance to Court Colman is a cast iron structure flanked by dwarf walls with railings. The main gateway is accompanied by tall openwork piers featuring scrollwork, topped with gas lamps. The railings have spike finials adorned with simple scrolls and are designed to sweep up towards the center. An elaborate lock rail displays a frieze of scrolls, with additional scroll motifs incorporating fleur-de-lys finials both above and below it. The dog rail features a similar design. On both the right and left sides, there are similar railings that also sweep up to the gate piers, set on dwarf walls made of coursed, rock-faced sandstone with Ham stone banding and coping, which rise up to the attached lodges. To the right, the wall is interrupted by a wrought iron gate that shares design elements with the main gates.
