Description
Church Lodge is a single-storey building designed in the Tudor-Gothic style. It features a main section with a gable facing the road and a wing set back at a right angle to the right. The structure is built of coursed, rock-faced Pennant sandstone with ashlar dressings and Ham stone banding. The roof is covered with renewed slate and has a stone chimney on the wing. The main elevations showcase cusped barge boards with decorative billets.
The front of the main range includes a three-light bay window with mullions and a transom. Above this window is a relief of the Llewellyn coat of arms set in a recessed Ham stone panel with an ogee head. The wing has a two-light mullioned window at the front and a fixed light in the gable end. On the left side wall of the main range, there is a timber-framed porch built on a dwarf wall, which contains an oak bench. The porch doorway has a chamfered surround, and the door is boarded with decorative fake strap hinges.
Internally, the lodge has been modernised but retains an ornate cast iron fireplace in the main range and a single stained glass shield in red featuring three white chevrons (representing the Trinity) in the gable-end window of the wing. There are modern additions behind the main structure, and a courtyard wall is attached to the left side of the porch.
