Description
The Community Health Clinic at Bridgend General Hospital, formerly known as the Union Offices, is an Edwardian single-storey building. It features a broad four-window front made of hammer-dressed stone, with a freestone eaves course and plinth. The building has channelled quoins and a full-height central entrance. The slate roof includes ridge cresting, swept bracket eaves, and stock brick chimney stacks. A stepped parapet inscribed with "Union Offices 1911" sits above an advanced cavetto arched entrance, which is flanked by blind garlanded cartouches. The entrance has convex steps leading to double doors. The horned 18-pane sash windows are adorned with lugged architraves.
The side elevations display similar architectural details, while the rear features two segmental-headed sash windows with voussoirs, flanking a central advanced gable bay that includes an attic roundel.
Inside, the building retains a segmental barrel vaulted hall with roundels on the ribbed ceiling, round arched doorways, panelled doors, and a giant arch with a keystone.
