Description

St John's Well, also known as Sandford's or de Sanford's Well, features a gated entrance made of rubble stone. This leads to a long flight of stone steps that descend, covered by a stone slab roof and with a limewashed interior. At street level on the right side, there is a semi-circular stone basin set in a walled recess, which includes an iron pump in the wall at the back and a stone drainage channel on the right.
