Former Castle Hotel

The Former Castle Hotel is a terrace of three 3-storey buildings, each featuring a 3-window wide front made of scribed stucco on Derwen Road. The central windows on the left side are blocked. The terrace extends around the corner to a 2-window front on Caroline Street. There is a deep band between the first and second floors, a swept-out cornice at the ground floor, and a plinth. The roof is slate, with brick and rendered chimney stacks. The windows are primarily recessed sash with small panes.

The classical detailing on the ground floor remains unaltered on the right side, showcasing a central bracketed doorway with a pediment and architraves around the windows, which have decorative keystones and raised lintels. However, the pediments have been removed and the positions of the doorways on the left have been altered, featuring panelled and glazed doors.

On the left side, there is a splayed angle with a clock. The Caroline Street front exhibits similar detailing. The rear of the building is finished in cement render and features mainly small-pane sash windows.
