Description
The gate piers to the service court at Merthyr Mawr House are made of ashlar stone and feature two-tier pyramidal caps. On the right side of the piers, there is a six-bay wall constructed from tooled snecked stone, which has two-tier ramped coping and shallow buttresses. This wall includes narrow fixed windows that provide light to a covered passage at the back of the service wing. The wall extends south on the west side of the service wing, made of coursed masonry, and includes two additional windows before ending in a square pier. On the left side of the gate piers, the wall has a single shallow buttress and continues as the rear wall of a vehicle shed and workshop.
