Description
The Trebannws Multi-Overflow and Outlet Sluice from the Swansea Canal is a Grade II listed structure featuring small sandstone weirs arranged in steps that direct water from the Swansea Canal to the Afon Tawe. At the top of the weirs, on the southeast side adjacent to the towpath, there is a two-bay primary overflow chamber, which is reported to be partly lined with timber. This chamber connects to a ground sluice equipped with working paddle gear located to the north. Since 1979, this area has been partially covered, and 20th-century control machinery has been added. The secondary overflow above the weir is still intact.
