Description

The canal overflow weir, dating from around 1785, is located in the garden to the west of the Canal Round House. It is constructed of dressed limestone with brick facing on the weir slope. The structure features a narrow canal outlet sluice that feeds into a wide sloping weir, which is channeled into a pipe. This weir was built to direct overflow water from the canal to the nearby River Frome.
