Description
Mumbles Battery is a structure built from coursed, rock-faced stone and features flat roofs that support solar module arrays. Attached to the base of the lighthouse and the battery are modern blockwork walls. The battery has a curved design and includes outer gun turrets. In the center of the inner face, there is a doorway with stepped voussoirs leading to a segmental head, above which are the initials VR and a date. The battery has several blocked windows, retains stepped lights for the stairs, and features angled corner windows on the upper stage.
Inside, the battery has vaulted ceilings but is now used for service accommodation for the lighthouse.
