22 St James Gardens

22 St James Gardens is a terrace of 11 houses that rise along the road. The buildings are three storeys high, constructed of red brick with bathstone dressings, which are mostly painted. The roofs have mostly been replaced with tiles or slate substitutes, and there are red brick chimneys. While the majority of the houses retain their original sash glazing, Nos 17, 19, 21, and partially No 22 have had their glazing replaced.

On the second floor, each house features a tripartite window on the left under a stone lintel, and a window on the right, also with a stone lintel. The sill course steps up in line with the buildings. To the left on the second floor, there is a splayed bay window that is slightly recessed and sits under a segmental brick arch with a keystone. To the right, there is a window topped with a stone cornice, above which is a round brick arch with a keystone.

On the ground floor, to the left, there is a bathstone splayed bay that is set slightly forward of the bay above, featuring a balustrade and a pediment. There are two segmentally-headed windows at the front and a single segmentally-headed window on the splays. To the right, there is an entrance doorway flanked by pilasters with a segmental head, which has a balustrade above it, and a panelled door with an overlight.
