Description

This is a terrace of eleven houses, built in the 18th century and stepped upwards along the road. The houses are constructed of red brick with decorative bathstone dressings, although much of the stone is currently painted. The roofs have largely been replaced with tiles or slate substitutes, and the chimneys are red brick. Most of the original sash windows remain, though they have been replaced at numbers 17, 19, 21 and partially at number 22.

The houses display a variety of architectural details. On the second floor, each house has a tripartite window on the left-hand side, beneath a stone lintel, and a single window with a stone lintel on the right. A sill course rises with the buildings. The second floor also features a splayed bay window to the left, slightly recessed within a segmental brick arch with a keystone. To the right is a window with a stone cornice, above a round brick arch with a keystone.

On the ground floor, the left-hand side of each house has a forward-projecting splayed bay, with a balustrade and pediment. It features two windows with segmentally-headed arches facing forward, and a single segmentally-headed window on the splays. The right-hand side has an entrance doorway flanked by pilasters culminating in a segmental head above, topped with a balustrade. The doorway has a panelled door with an overlight.
