Description
Poplar House is an L-plan structure dating from the 18th century. It features a symmetrical two-storey front with three windows, constructed from coursed rubble, and includes a plinth and rusticated quoins. The roof is hipped and covered with slate, complemented by end brick chimney stacks. The building has freestone bracket cornices and plain architraves surrounding 12-pane sash windows. The entrance boasts a robust doorcase with a fluted bracket hood and half-round Tuscan columns, along with panelled reveals and a half-glazed six-panel door.
The side elevations are made of rubble and contain some 12-pane sashes alongside modern windows. There is a cellar opening on the left side, while the rear mainly features modern windows. The northeast corner of the cross range is cut back, showcasing a curved brace and pendant that support the overhanging roof.
Inside, the building retains its panelled shutters.
