Description
Lower Maestorglwydd is a one-storey house with a semi-attic upper floor, rendered and topped with a concrete tile roof. It features a square-shaped central stone chimney and a second chimney on the north gable end. On the west side, there are stone labels above a mezzanine stair-light and a central door, which has been converted into a window. A lean-to shed is attached to the north end of the house.
Inside, the former hall in the southern part of the house has an ovolo-moulded ceiling beam along with other stop-chamfered beams, while the inner room displays exposed plain joists. The northern room, which was rebuilt in the mid-17th century as a parlour, features five ovolo-moulded ceiling beams with uniquely shaped stops, and a splayed fireplace with an arched timber lintel that is moulded to match the beams. There are two 19th-century panelled doors, and the chimneyside stairs were rebuilt in the 19th century. Some old roof trusses are partly visible in the southern part of the building.
