Description
Cefn Farmhouse is a 17th-century building constructed of colourwashed stone with a stone slate roof. It has a 'T'-shaped plan that includes a living hall and an inner room, with a two-bay service wing added centrally on the northwest side, which continues as a barn that may have originally been part of the farmhouse. The entrance features a boarded door in a heavy frame located at the side of the large gable stack of the living hall. There is a 20th-century service extension on the northeast gable.
Inside, the living hall showcases ogee stopped cross beams, with similar chamfer stops on the fire lintel. A 17th-century door frame from the hall leads into the lower service extension, which may have originally served as an external door. A shaped doorhead next to the stack provides access to a circular stone stair, which has a small gable-end window. The inner room, now used as a kitchen, also features similar cross beams, and the end room above has a gable window with splayed jambs. The low-pitched roof is supported by large scantling principal rafters, measuring approximately 300 by 150 millimeters, with a high tenoned collar.
