Description
Upper Maestorglwydd Farmhouse is a semi-detached building constructed from coursed stone rubble, partly rendered, with slate roofs. It is two storeys high and features a lean-to shed on the west side. The windows include 2 and 3-light wood and metal casements from the 19th and 20th centuries, with those on the main range having segmental arches. The left-hand gable has a window in its original opening, while the entrance door is an early 20th-century panelled and glazed design. The stone chimney has been rebuilt.
On the east side, there is one window under a stone label, with 20th-century metal casements and rooflights. The south side features an original stone chimney on the gable of the wing, with blocked stairlights nearby. The main range has two 20th-century wooden casement windows under old timber lintels, one of which replaces the original door. The door in the wing is made of 19th-century planks under an older timber lintel.
Inside, the main building has 19th-century plank doors, exposed ceiling beams, and a staircase from the 18th or 19th century. The wing has 19th-century plank doors and 20th-century doors, with chamfered ceiling beams throughout the ground floor. There is a large fireplace with a stone and timber lintel, stairs with stone treads, and a plain doorframe. The front room features a flagstone floor. On the upper floor, the main building has early 20th-century fittings, while the cross-wing retains an original doorframe in the truss between the two sections.
