Description
The HSBC Bank is a one-storey building constructed in ashlar and designed in the Neo-Baroque style. It features large round-headed window openings with keystones, channelled ashlar, and battered sills, positioned between Ionic columns that are paired at the ends of the elevations. The building has an entablature topped with a balustraded parapet. There are two bays facing High Street Inferior and four bays facing Tredegar Street. The corner has a convex entrance bay with a flat-headed enriched doorway, a frieze decorated with an urn and swags, and a cornice. Above this bay, a small dome with a finial and lead cladding rises, adorned with carved swags and volutes around its base. The entrance is complemented by scroll-top iron gates. A modern block is located at the rear, facing Lion Street.
